colour blocking

LOVE DRESS* // ASOS NECKLACE // ACCESSORIZE CLUTCH (sale) // EBAY HEELS // IL CENTIMETRO BRACELET*
A slightly dressier ensemble for today's post, and this outfit is a definite contender for a friend's 18th party tonight! I absolutely adore this monochrome shift dress from Love, not only because it looks so effortless and understated but also because it allows me to eat a huge dinner and still go out without a food baby in sight. The perfect kind of dress. The fit couldn't be better, and it's perfect teamed with my beloved Ebay platforms which you can buy here (I'm currently eyeing up these glittery ones too!). Hope you all have a lovely weekend!

check-mate

LOVE COAT* // MOTEL JUMPER* (on sale) // ACCESSORIZE CLUTCH // TOPSHOP JEANS // H&M BOOTS // CASIO WATCH
And it has arrived. The checked coat of my dreams. As soon as I set eyes on it on the Love website I just knew it had be to mine, and despite not being the warmest piece of outerwear in my wardrobe, the fit, length and colour all make up for it's slight lack of substance. I just feel so cool and fashion-y when I have it on if you get what I mean, and it's oh so Stella McCartney (see here for evidence). All I need now is a pair of those famous Kristy pumps copied so well by River Island and Front Row Shop - the ones that I hated so much at first but now absolutely need to own - and I'm good to go. At least I've got my priorities straight, eh?

in a while, crocodile

MANGO JUMPER (on sale) // ESPIRIT SHIRT // MOTEL ROCKS JACKET* // TOPSHOP JEANS // TOPSHOP SHOES (on sale) // TOPSHOP BAG via NEXT2NOWT // ACCESSORIZE NECKLACE (on sale)
I went for a slightly different backdrop for today's photos, and I actually quite like the way they've turned out! I think my camera prefers this background! Today's outfit is pretty standard, as it was unfortunately back to sixth form for me today after almost four luxurious weeks off. The Motel jacket is perfect for layering over jumpers when the weather is as mild as it is today as it's pretty light, and I love the texture for adding a little something to a classic jeans & jumper ensemble. The jumper is actually my mums, but I've literally just ordered the black one which is only £13.50 in the ASOS sale! I don't actually have a plain black jumper which is surprising as I would definitely consider it a bit of a staple. I look forward to that arriving within the next few days! Speaking of sales, the Topshop loafers that I'm wearing here have also gone into the sale and are now only £20! This is probably an appropriate time to apologise to my mum, who I know paid full price for these ones as she got them for me for Christmas! Not the comfiest of shoes by any means, but I love them all the same.
In other news, it's definitely time for another quick blog sale plug. I am selling off some footwear, jewellery and clothing items purely due to a lack of space which you can browse through by clicking here, including some Motel and Topshop bits (the photos aren't great so if you want any more photos/info about items then just email me). I've reduced the P&P costs so hopefully they won't put you off! I think I'm going to give it a week or so and then put everything up for auction on eBay, so if you really want anything then just drop me an email straight away to make sure you get it! I'll be updating it with some new things later on in the week so keep an eye out!

new years' beauty buys

BENEFIT'S 'THE POREFESSIONAL' PRIMER, 'BENETINT' LIP AND CHEEK STAIN, 'THEY'RE REAL' MASCARA & 'BOI-ING' CONCEALER
FROM TOP: 'DIVA', 'CRAVING' & 'REBEL' BY MAC
ORIGINS OUT OF TROUBLE 10-MINUTE MASK
LIPCOTE LIPSTICK SEALER & CHLOE PERFUME
With Christmas each year comes a sudden urge on my part to spend a significant quantity of my Christmas money on expensive beauty products, and this year was no different. Throughout the rest of the year I do tend to steer towards more fashion-focused purchases, preferring to get something slightly more substantial for my hard-earned cash. Yet recently, with my wardrobe fit to burst and nothing particularly inspiring me on the high street, I've gone a little bit mad for make-up. Some of the things pictured above were Christmas presents, and some are things that I've recently picked up myself to take me into the new year. I've really been getting into wearing lipstick lately, a habit made almost hassle free thanks to my trusty Lipcote, and I'm a big fan (late to the party as always) of MAC's offerings - I look forward to expanding my modest collection in 2014, but so far Craving has to be my favourite. Benefit is another brand that I love, and the 'They're Real' mascara is one of the best I've tried. I recently finished up a small one, so was chuffed to find a gift set in John Lewis last week that included a full sized 'They're Real' and 'Benetint' and a mini 'Porefessional' for just £26.50 in the sale; such a steal when the mascara alone retails for £19.50! Last but not least is my all time favourite fragrance, Chloe. Now this was a Christmas present but I just had to include it because it is so darn amazing, and if you haven't ever had a sniff just please make sure you do when you're next in a beauty hall! I just cannot get enough of the stuff and I'd hate for you to be deprived of its magnificence. In typical shopaholic fashion I'm still not satisfied with my beauty intake, so next on my wishlist is the NARS Laguna bronzer or this ASOS duo, some more Origins skincare, and a new foundation; I'm currently deliberating between NARS Sheer Glow, the Laura Mercier Silk Creme or Giorgio Armani's Luminous Silk. Oh the decisions I must make! What do you think of my new years' beauty buys, and what products are you going to be reaching for in 2014?

new year, new balance

HAPPY NEW YEAR Y'ALL. I know I'm a few days late, but better late than never eh? I had the most amazing yet crazily busy Christmas and New Years, and I'm now absolutely shattered and in no way prepared for my imminent mock exams, but such is life! The end of 2012, December in particular, was so hectic that I barely found time to blog, and only just managed to squeeze in a Merry Christmas post on Christmas Eve. I'm determined to be a little more consistent with my blog in 2014, and I'm also looking into making a few changes with the layout and content that will hopefully make everything a little more up to date. My biggest blogging resolution however, is to go for quality over quantity with my posts. Towards the end of last year I fell a little out of love with blogging as I felt under pressure to feature certain things that I'd been sent within certain time periods, and lots of the things I ended up posting didn't feel like me. My posts felt like gifted item after gifted item and I started to lose sight of the reason why I started this blog in the first place, which was not only to share my style but more importantly to write about fashion and learn more about the industry that I want to work in. This year I'm going to be much more selective about the items I feature for review purposes, and only accept things that I really love from brands that I love. There are so many blogs out there now, and don't get me wrong I think it's great that so many people are doing it! But I think the element of competition that comes with such a popular platform leads to a little bit of jealousy and pressure that I found myself getting too preoccupied with towards the end of last year. I don't want to forget the reasons why I started blogging and I certainly don't want to give up, so in 2014 I'm going to work really hard to make my blog a more honest reflection of what I'm doing, using, wearing, thinking and interested in, rather than the slightly dull and repetitious freebie-fest that I felt it became last year, and try and focus less on what others are doing! I know that 2014 is going to be an amazing year what with finally turning 18, going on holiday with all of my best friends in the summer, and finally finishing school and starting uni in September. I look forward to keeping up my little fashion-related space on the internet throughout 2014, and I can only hope that you all continue to enjoy the read!

On a less serious and emotional note, how delicious are my new trainers? New Balance, my feet and I salute you.
