I bought this dress from Monki just before I went away on holiday, and absolutely adore it. It's actually very long and sack-like without the belt, but the print is to die for and and the colours are perfect for the awkward summer-to-autumn transition that is fast approaching. I was reading a blog post on Frankie's blog (check her out her style is amazing) last night where she mentioned how it's annoying when bloggers wear outrageous 'hypothetical' outfits with killer heels and act like it's what they wear on a daily basis (read it here); I was literally reading it thinking "AMEN TO THAT", and then today I completely contradicted myself by wearing these badass platforms in this post! Needless to say I would not be wearing these heels for a trip down to the Post Office (to be honest I rarely wear heels even if I'm going 'out out'); realistically I'd team this dress with a pair of creepers or my platform Converse, but I just really wanted to show you all these shoes because I think they're fab. In general I don't think I do a bad job of showing you all what I actually wear on a daily basis, as I do try my best to take photos of outfits on the days I'm actually wearing them, rather than just playing dress up and putting together things that I would never really wear in public! Having said that, it is fun to throw on some heels and post some more dressed up ensembles every once in a while. What are your opinions on the subject? Do you like reading blogs showing genuine, day to day style, or do you find that slightly dull, and prefer to read the more outrageous, editorial, magazine-shoot-esque posts? I'd be interested to know! xoxo
Love your dress, the print is amazing! + I've been prone to changing my shoes after taking blog pictures simply for the reason they're not practical; but I would wear them if I could!
Monki is full of absolute gold - love your dress ! You look gorgeous as ever! Thanks for the mention lovely, those heels look banging even if you didn't wear them to the post office ;)
I'm in LOVE with that dress, it's gorgeous! And I completely agree with Frankie, bloggers should be honestly put themselves on their blogs not a 'more dressed up' version ;) xx
I completely agree with you. I don't tend to read the more... editorial blogs just because I can't relate to them as I would never go out in the day wearing those outfits are anything like it. So I much rather prefer street style and clothes people generally would wear just to pop into town or whatever. But saying that, if that day I want to wear something really comfy but a pair of heels look so much better, I would take the outfit photos wearing the heels, but probably still mention in the post what shoes I'll end up wearing.
uhhh i NEED that dress! crying that the only monki shop is in london and it's £6 delivery from their site.
i love a bit of both - the day to day style is great for inspiration and to find things to actually buy and then the editorial ones are good to just drool over and wish you had their wardrobe!
Love this dress, and the shoes are a-m-a-z-i-n-g!!! A lot of the time I will blog an outfit I'm wearing that night or wore the night before so I generally do wear heels in my blog posts, but I can assure people that I actually do wear those heels all the time! I love to see a variety of different styles, I like to see casual ootd posts but I also like to see more dressy posts! Oh god, I've written an essay hahaha! You are for sure in my 5 fav bloggers, I do enjoy seeing your genuin ootd posts! Over and out xxxx
The dress is gorgeous, I love the print! And I actually like when people pair outrageous heels with their outfits just for the blog. It may not be realistic but I always think it looks fab, especially the ones your wearing!
