the trainer edit

I've always been quite a casual dresser and absolutely HATE going out feeling over-dressed, so I love to have a pair of trainers on hand to dress down any outfits that are borderline formal. I love the way trainers look with basic dresses & all-black outfits; they just make the whole ensemble seem so effortless, thrown together and just generally cooler, and I definitely need to add some more to my collection.
Those of you who are regular readers will know that I pretty much live in my white platform Converse's, so I've recently been on the hunt for a new style of sporty shoe to grace my feet and keep me casual this summer (although my beloved platforms could never be replaced!). I've chosen my favourite pairs from Size?, which is quite a well known high-street shoe store stocking all of the best brands (I tend to go to the one on Carnaby Street, although you can order online). Converse are (in my opinion) a staple, so I have included a few pairs in my top ten. However I'm also loving New Balance at the moment; it took me a while to latch on to the hype for this brand as at first I thought they were pretty darn ugly, but I'm now seriously considering getting myself a pair. For some reason I'm particular drawn to the green suede 574's at the top - I feel like they may divide opinions slightly, but there's something about a green pair of trainers that presents a bit of a challenge styling-wise, and it's certainly one that I'd be more than willing to accept!

This jumper is perfect for the dodgy, unpredictable weather that we're currently being subjected to in the UK! The pop of colour & the bold print gives it a more summery vibe, yet it's cosy enough to protect against any impromptu gale-force winds (and the fact that it's on sale and is now only a tenner gives you no excuse not to purchase one!). I can't wait to get more wear out of it soon, and am currently envisioning it layered under my denim dungarees with a pair of trainers (I'm currently on the hunt for a 'cool' pair, and am thinking of jumping on the New Balance bandwagon - thoughts?). Having teamed it with a pleated skirt and my DM's for this particular post, I'm feeling ready for a day at primary school... if only I could go back and forget about the landmine that is applying to university within the next few months!

Cagecity sent me this gorgeous floral shirt by Minkpink a little white ago - I wore it a few times before it got buried in the back of my wardrobe, but I've recently resurrected it and have really been enjoying wearing it open as a sort of kimono-esque cover up with high-waisted denim. I really love kimonos at the moment and have been browsing every site under the sun on the hunt for some cool patterned ones! This ASOS one is a contender, & I'm also loving this Motel one. In other news, I finally caved and bought this extortionately priced pair of American Apparel shorts as a little post-exam treat to myself! Now I just want them in every colour.

keeping it simple

This tunic has to be one of my most-worn items of clothing at the moment! I shared my love for Monki with you in this post, and this dress is another prime example of the kind of affordable yet high-quality basics that Monki does so well. I have my eye on a grey Topshop tunic that is very similar and only about £16; for some reason I couldn't find it to link it here but I'm sure it's quite widely available! These kinds of dresses are so easy to throw on & dress up or down; I've (obviously) teamed it with my platform Converse here, but it looks equally as good with bare legs, some ankle socks and my DM 1461's, or some chunky heels such as the JC Lita's if you were looking to go all out!

In other news, I'm currently selling a bunch of clothing items on Ebay if you fancy a browse, including a Topshop leather jacket, a Levi's denim jacket and some other items that are all in great condition if not brand new. I've had a big wardrobe clear out because I just have a ridiculous amount of clothes; they're all things that I love but that I simply do not get enough wear out of or just don't fit me, so it would be great if I could pass them on to a new home! I was sent this tie-dye cape (is that what you'd call it?) from Missguided a little while ago. It's not the kind of thing I'd normally go for but it's actually so warm and comfortable to wear - perfect for the kind of weather we've got at the moment! I can envisage it with a pair of denim shorts and my burgundy Docs at a festival, or just thrown over a t-shirt and jeans for some added warmth, and at only £17.99 it's such a steal. This top was a recent purchase from Monki on Carnaby Street, which is fast becoming one of my favourite places to shop; if you're ever in the West End make sure you pop in for a browse!

Today's post is a quick one, just to share with you a few bits and pieces that I've recently acquired acccesories-wise. 
Thank you to the lovely Antonia at Delilah Dust and Cat from Lost at Sea for sending me this gorgeous pieces of jewellery that you will all see featured in an outfit post soon! I'm obsessed with hamsas at the moment so have been loving layering the two together as the chains are slightly different lengths; I've also worn the yin and yang symbol to death, as it ties in nicely with the monochrome look that I've been sporting pretty much 24/7 recently!
The jelly shoes were a bit of a panic buy - me and my friend Lucy went on the hunt for some whilst shopping on Oxford Street recently and couldn't find our sizes anywhere! I vouched to buy some online but didn't get round to it until I realised that they were going out of stock EVERYWHERE, so quickly nabbed these from Mr Shoes. I'd never ordered from there before but the delivery was so quick and I'm really impressed! I know jelly shoes are a bit of a love them or hate them thing, but I definitely love them and cannot wait to wear them to death on holiday. crochet on crochet

Purchased these cute lil' crochet espadrilles from ASOS not too long ago - I'm not that much of a sandals girl so I think these will be my go-to shoe on holiday this summer! (as well as these JuJu jellies which I WILL purchase soon, yes I know they're sandals but they're an exception). I teamed the espadrilles with my absolute favourite jumper from Choies (I wear it constantly) and my leather look skater skirt, with a pop of colour from this lovely Misseee necklace; they have an amazing range of statement necklaces at such affordable prices.
In other news, my ASOS 'Save for Later' basket is literally overflowing at the moment. I've entered pretty much every 'WIN AN £80 ASOS VOUCHER' competition on every blog that's running one in a desperate attempt to pay for my ASOS habit - everything in stock at the moment is amazing!

I'M BACK. Exams officially finished yesterday so I will now be getting back into the swing of blogging - I've decided to try and start posting on the same days every week so that I can get into a bit more of a routine over the summer! 
I was sent these wicked shorts from Missguided a few weeks ago, and with the current hot weather I decided to crack them out! I am quite literally in love - they're high waisted, leather-look, so soft and comfy and have these really cool side panels that peep out nicely from underneath my side-split tee from ASOS, and at £17.99 they're such a steal. I'm loving the white-on-white thing that I've seen many bloggers doing recently (although it's a nightmare to photograph - hello over exposure), so decided to give it a go myself. Will definitely be doing it more often! It's quite a sporty outfit this, I feel. What do you think?

Good luck to everyone still struggling through exams! I know A2's and GCSE's go on a bit longer than AS's - hang on in there everyone.
