designer spotlight #2

Today marks my second Designer Spotlight post (read my first one here) and this time I'm focusing on Equipment. I'd never heard of the brand before browsing through their pieces on Trilogy; I knew straight away that I wanted to feature them! Trilogy has many stores in places such as Chelsea, Marylebone and Wimbledon and stock many designer pieces of different styles and brands, with a focus on denim. They actually have a handy 'denim advice' section on the site which gives a run down on different styles of jeans and how best to wear them as well as stocking lots of well known and well regarded denim brands; perfect if you're looking for the perfect pair!

The label Equipment was originally established in 1975 but was relaunched in 2010, and they are most well known for their shirts. I chose my four favorites which are pictured above; of course they're extremely expensive, but I'm certain that wearing one of these would feel so luxurious and well worth the hefty price tag! If I had to choose one out of the four to grace my wardrobe I think I would go for the palm print one. The nude and black colour palette would make it extremely versatile, yet the pattern adds a quirky edge.

What do you think of Equipment? Had you heard of them before now?

first timer

After the sudden realization in this post that I had never before worn sunglasses on my blog, I thought I would throw on a pair today even though it wasn't remarkably sunny! These are just a rip-off pair of Ray-Bans from Cyprus, but I've definitely got my eye on this beautiful pair from Icon Eyewear that I featured in my post
I'm wearing this crochet top again (previously worn here) that was kindly sent to me by Room 31. I've been wearing white/cream tops a lot lately, and whenever I wear this I get so many compliments I just don't see a reason to take it off! It really is beautiful and looks so expensive; I just cannot get enough.

I hope you're all enjoying the sporadic UK sunshine - are any of you heading off anywhere exotic this summer?

snaps from belgium

Some of you may know that I spent the last few days in Belgium. The weather was beautiful and we had a brilliant time (although I somehow managed to make it through the whole week without eating some Belgian chocolate..) and I thought I would share with you a few photos that I took on the trip! There aren't many, but the rest were just of me and my friends which probably wouldn't make for very interesting viewing! As you can tell I did quite enjoy taking photos of the sunset over the sea in the evenings, but it was so beautiful I just couldn't resist. Have any of you ever been to Belgium? Do you fancy it?

icon eyewear

1 / 2
3 / 4
Although I have never actually worn a pair of sunglasses in a post (I might have to do something about that!) I really do love my sunnies. The correct pair of sunglasses can frame your face, and of course are great for hiding behind when you've been light-handed with the ol' mascara i.e on holiday! Icon Eyewear is a site that recently entered my radar, and that I was keen to share with you due to their abundance of cheap yet incredibly stylish eyewear. I've picked out my four favourite pairs of sunglasses to share with you!

The first two pairs are wayfarers; one of the few shapes that really suit me. I love the vintage, classic look of the 'London' ones on the top left and they're a great everyday pair that would go with any outfit. The 'Ruby' ones on the top right also caught my eye (excuse the pun) as they're semi-wayfarer semi-cat-eye which I thought was interesting. I also love the tortoiseshell print which is something I tend to fall for with sunglasses; these are definitely my favourite pair out of the four!
The bottom two pairs are aviators which of course is another classic and popular shape. The 'Bergen' ones on the left I like due to the tortoiseshell bar across the top. I haven't seen any similar to this on the high street and again think they look extremely classy and retro, and remind me of a pair worn by Rihanna which can never be a bad thing! I also really like the look of the 'Oslo' aviators on the bottom right, mainly due to their simplicity and the thin rose-gold frame.

If, like me, you find it tricky to find sunglasses that suit you and can't afford a pair of beautiful Ray-Bans I would definitely have a browse of Icon Eyewear  - there are so many styles, most of which cost around £15 which is so reasonable!

What do you think of the site? What is your favourite style of sunnies to wear?

double crossed

A very casual outfit from me here, but I just had to show you my new favourite jeans and t-shirt! The t-shirt was very kindly sent to me by Solilor - they're a China based company but do ship to the UK and have fast delivery! Definitely check them out, they have some great pieces! The t-shirt is extremely oversized, and is so unbelievably soft and comfortable to wear - I've barely taken it off since it arrived.
The jeans were a recent purchase from Miss Selfridge. I had been lusting after the infamous American Apparel Easy Jeans for months and came so close to buying them a few weeks ago before going for the Riding Pants instead. When I saw these high waisted super soft skinny jeans in Miss Selfridge I was so excited -  they're so similar to the Easy Jean in that they're very high waisted, and they also come in other washes. They're not quite as skin tight as the AA version but if, like me, you're looking for a cheaper alternative then it's definitely worth looking in Miss Selfridge. They unfortunately only come in a leg length of 32" which is long, but I quite like wearing my jeans rolled up at the ankle anyway so this suits me just fine!

I'm going away to Belgium this Saturday for a few days so sorry if things go a little quiet on the blogging front! I may schedule one or two posts for over the weekend and next week but I'm going out in a bit and then have work tomorrow, so may not get much time for writing posts! I hope you're all enjoying your summer, and see you when I get back!

designer spotlight #1

Today marks the start of what I hope will be an interesting new feature on the blog - the 'Designer Spotlight'. As a rule, most of what I buy, wear and post about is from the high street and other affordable brands, so I thought that writing a weekly post about a designer or certain designer pieces that I like at the moment would be fun and would make a nice change from my usual posts. Some of the posts may be sponsored, but the brands and products that I choose to write about are entirely my own choice and I do not feel in any way obligated to feature certain sites or brands if I they don't fit with my blog or with me.

This week I have chosen Barbour. In my mind, the two pieces above would be perfect for the muddy festival fields (although perhaps I would be a little worried about ruining the jacket..). Barbour jackets (or should I say 'Barbour' jackets) were everywhere on the high street over the winter and I did want to get my hands on one until they became slightly, dare I say it, chavvy. However to me, the real deal just looks so much better! I love the olive green colour, the corduroy collar, the floral lining and the contrasting yellow Barbour logo on the pocket. It would make a lovely, warm festival cover up and would be a great one to wear in the winter too.
The wellingtons are of course a festival essential and although I originally had my eye on a pair of Hunters, I love the look of these just as much. They are clearly extremely similar in style but I am a sucker for the odd brand; having a little Barbour logo on my boot would make me feel very smug! Not to mention, for the price you pay these must be some pretty damn comfortable wellies - no blisters for the Barbour girl!

So that is the end of my first 'Designer Spotlight' post! It's so much fun browsing designer sites and looking at more high-end items; Jules B is a nice one as they stock lots of popular designers, and they also have a sale on if any of you fancy biting the bullet and purchasing some designer pieces. I'd be interested to know what you think of my new feature in the comments!

Happy Wednesday!

A little while ago Glamorous kindly sent me this pretty floral dress. It's taken me quite some time to get around to wearing it due to the horrible UK weather, but today despite a lack of sunshine it's considerably warmer than it has been, so out it came! I don't tend to go for florals as I'm not a very girly dresser, but I chose this little number as I thought it would be perfect for the 'summer' (I use that word lightly). The fabric hangs really nicely and is extremely flattering - I also love the cut out panels on the side which add a bit of interest to the dress. All in all I'm extremely impressed with Glamorous and strongly recommend that you all check them out; you can get 20% off of your order by entering GLAMOROUS20 at the checkout. Their prices are extremely affordable and they sell some brilliant disco pant lookalikes - a recipe for success if you ask me!

What do you think of the dress? Have you ever ordered from Glamorous

ebay lashes

I never used to be that into fake eyelashes - it's only recently that I've started purchasing and trying out different lashes and brands. I used to go for Ardell or Eyelure however after hearing people talk about ordering cheap sets from Ebay I just thought, why not?
I bought thirty pairs in total - ten pairs of each style - at 99p for ten pairs and free P&P from this seller. They are delivered from Hong Kong so take a long time to arrive, but apart from that the seller and the condition of the eyelashes when they came was absolutely fine.
The eyelashes themselves are not bad for the price you pay. I tend to use my Eyelure glue with them and they stay on fine however sometimes need a bit of a touch up of glue on the inner corner during the night. The band on which you put the glue isn't particularly flimsy which can be annoying when you're trying to fit them to your eye!
My overall impression is that if you're a beginner or aren't sure what styles of lashes are going to suit you, buying some cheap eyelashes such as these to practice with and try out is perfect. If I had a special occasion to go to I may buy some more expensive lashes as they are higher quality, however I only wear them occasionally when I go out and have no qualms with chucking these Ebay ones away after one wear as they're so cheap!

Would you try some Ebay eyelashes? What sellers or brands do you recommend?

new additions: jewellery

I've done a spot of shopping this past week up on Oxford Street and other places, so thought I would show you some of my jewellery purchases! Three of the pieces are from the Freedom at Topshop sale for which I just cannot express my love enough. I always manage to find something that I need and the discounts are always so good! I find that Topshop jewellery can be overpriced but the sale brings the prices right down so that it's not so painful to part with the cash! The spike earrings from Forever 21 weren't on sale but were so nice I just had to have them. They were a bit of a rare find, as I used to love Forever 21's jewellery but recently it's all just a little to sparkly and glitzy for my liking!

Have you found any sale bargains, jewellery or otherwise?

P.S Enter my giveaway here - it's ending on Sunday!

Thursday, 5 July 2012

How cute is this little crochet top? It was kindly sent to me by Room 31 and is by Vero Moda - I've worn it so much since receiving it! It's of a really high quality and is so easy to wear and to throw on with jeans or shorts. I'm also wearing my beloved Primark satchel here which I constantly use. I do have my sights set on a real Cambridge Satchel Co satchel but with those prices I think this one will have to do for now!

Don't forget to enter my giveaway if you haven't already! It ends on Sunday 8th July.

Happy Thursday!

the porefessional

I'm pretty sure this product isn't new to any of you! I acquired this small sample bottle back when Glamour magazine gave out their annual Benefit samples, and was keen to give it a go after hearing lots of rave reviews. I've never really been into primers as they just seemed to be a product that would clog up your pores and therefore cause more breakouts; with a name like 'The POREfessional' I was almost certain that this would do exactly that!
I can happily say that I haven't noticed any terrible side effects spot-wise after using this product! I tend to apply it to my t-zone and under and around my eyes after my moisturiser when I want my makeup to stay for a particularly long time, for example on nights out. I don't use it every single day because I just don't see the need to be applying extra products onto my face all the time - it can't be good for you! The consistency of the primer is far creamier and thicker than any I have tried in the past, and it isn't clear like many popular primers - it's more nude/skin coloured. I don't know if I would necessarily repurchase the product as although it does help my makeup stay on for longer, it hasn't been life changing or made any miraculous and noticeable differences to my makeup or my skin in general (and it is ridiculously expensive). Having said that, I will enjoy using up this little tube whilst it lasts!

Have you ever tried The POREfessional? What are your thoughts?

in the nude

I think this is probably the dressiest outfit I have ever posted on my blog! Most of my outfits are true reflections of what I wear day to day and are therefore far more casual, but today I just thought I would put on some heels and show you the kind of thing I would wear to a dressier occasion! What ever happened to getting dressed up for no apparent reason?
I'm sure you've all seen Oasap popping up on various blogs recently, due to their Fashion Hunter programme. They sent me this gorgeous nude chiffon skirt. It's very high waisted and hangs beautifully, and can be dressed up or down (I also love the way it looks with creepers). The skirt is only about £15 which is so reasonable, and comes in other colours too. I have my eye on the black version!
If you do fancy making an order from Oasap, you can 25% off of your order using the code '04/07-IND-DAY' until the 15th July so make sure you get in there quick!

Lastly, don't forget to enter my giveaway which launched yesterday, where you could win £40 worth of vintage accessories from The Vintage Set (click here to enter).
