Happy New Year's Eve everybody! I hope you all enjoy yourselves this evening, and call in the new year with a bang.
This is a very Topshop-heavy ensemble which is a little unlike me! I don't tend to shop in there unless it's the sale, my birthday, or I just simply have to have something. The shorts fall under the 'birthday' category and the jumper was £15 in the sales! I love it because of the 'pleather' around the collar - it's not very clear in the photos but maybe if I wear this again in a post I will do more of a close up.
In case any of you want to know, my nails are Models Own Silver Fox on my middle finger and Revlon Facets of Fuchsia on the rest (the one I got for christmas). I know I keep on saying it but I'm definitely going to try and do a post about my favourite glitter nail polishes, because I have quite a collection and just can't get enough!
So this concludes my final post of 2011! This year has seen me finish one blog and begin another, and I'm so happy with the response to Fashion Junkie. I've only been writing here for just over a month but it feels like longer, and I can't wait to see what 2012 brings for my blog and for me!
I never usually make resolutions because I can't stick to them, but mine is to try and drink at least one bottle of water every single day. What are yours?
I want to wish you all good luck for the New Year - I hope it lives up to expectations! See you in 2012!

painting it red

Wore this little ensemble the other day for yet another sales raid with my mum. We were going to venture up to London, but after the incidents on Oxford Street (coupled with our general laziness) we just went to a shopping centre not too far from us. We had a really lovely day, which was topped off nicely by the Nandos we had once we were utterly shopped out - it was my mum's first time in there, scandal!
I'm really feeling the whole preppy, slightly androgynous thing at the moment, hence the collar and grandad jumper! I actually bought this gem in the New Look sale the other day (found some great things in there recently ~shocker~) and it was only £16 reduced from £25 or something like that. It matches perfectly with my Docs and I really love it - prepare to be bored at the sight of this jumper by the end of January!
The belt was another sale find - it's real leather with this lovely vintagey-floral pattern on it (didn't have time to take close-ups but will do in a future post)! It was £5 reduced from £23 and I think it would've been rude not to buy it with that price tag, don't you agree?
Lastly, just needed to mention these creepers from Linzi shoes because I was tweeting various people about them last night and I am literally in love. Hands up if you think it would be rude not to buy these too?!

the christmas presents post

I know I'm a little late on the bandwagon with this one, but I've finally got around to posting my Christmas presents. I haven't shown you everything, only my favourite bits and pieces; my docs (of course), the huge Soap and Glory set that I think just about everyone got, some new headphones (thank you brother), a fur stole from Topshop, the Chloe perfume set, my favourite mascara, some body shop body scrub, the Tommy Hilifiger perfume and a gorgeous nail polish by Revlon called Facets of Fuchsia. I'm sure I've missed out some things because most of my presents are put away now so I just had a quick look around and grabbed what I could remember for the photos! I of course got the obligatory pyjamas, socks, chocolate and some other makeup/beauty/bath bits, but these are the things that I loved the most.
If any of you have done similar posts, please leave the links in the comments because I love being nosy.
Must go now, because the girls are coming around and I desperately need to tidy my room..

cherry red smooth

Some of you may have guessed that the post title refers to the colour/style of my brand spanking new Dr Martens that I got for Christmas - I can honestly say that I am in love. They're from online shoe store Cloggs, which I highly recommend if you're looking for branded shoes such as Docs, Vans, Converse etc. They have lots of offers and discounts and are extremely reliable - I've ordered from them many a time!
I gave them their first outing today whilst on a little mooch around the shops with my mum. I managed to get a few bargains in the sales which I'm sure will be in an outfit post before long. I'm debating whether or not to do a post showing you my Christmas presents - I know that I personally love reading these kinds of things but some people can be funny about it! I may not show all the trivial bits and pieces, probably just a few of my favourites - let me know in the comments if you'd like me to do it!
Lastly, I hope that you all enjoyed the festive weekend - I know I did! I got some fantastic presents, ate way too much, and had such a laugh with all my family. Now, bring on New Years!

the obligatory Christmas post

~lolz at the 'christmas' hovering above the star, bloody print screening~
Made this absolute beauty of a festive collage on Polyvore - another addition to the plethora of websites on which I spend waste my time! I'm thinking of joining Tumblr too, what do you think? Do any of you have Tumblrs?
So today I was planning on doing an outfit post, but the weather just doesn't want to cooperate. It has been on/off raining all day, and even when the rain stopped it was way too dark for photos, so being the perfectionist that I am I decided to just give it a miss!
I've actually had such a lovely day - watched Peter Pan, the Lion King in 3D, and last night's Made in Chelsea Christmas episode (SPENCE & CAGS FINALLY DID IT YAY), and just finished wrapping all my family's Christmas presents. I'm actually so pleased with what I bought everybody - sometimes my heart just isn't in it, but I really feel as if I've done alright this year (thank you to Libby on Twitter who gave me the idea for my mum's little Christmas 'hamper')!
This will be my last post until after Christmas (but I will be on Twitter if you care enough to follow my Christmassy antics), so I would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a very Merry Christmas! I hope you all have a wonderful, festive, food-fueled weekend! I also want to thank you all for taking the time to read/follow my blog. I wasn't sure how people would take to it and was worried that it wouldn't be as 'successful' as my previous one ismellfashion (even though that wasn't exactly famous!), but I've had a better response than I could ever have imagined, and almost have 100 followers after only a number of weeks which makes me so happy. I can't wait to continue posting throughout 2012, and lets see where my little blog can take me!

Models Own Beetle Juice Collection

I've heard so many things about the Models Own Beetle Juice Collection and I'm sure you have too, be it through word of mouth or other blog posts, so when Models Own offered to send me through a couple of polishes from the collection to review, I was more than happy to oblige!
The two I received are Pinky Brown and Aqua Violet. Pinky Brown is a warm, shimmery, autumnal shade that shows hints of yellow when moved in the light. Aqua Violet is less shimmery, more metallic, in a lovely blue shade with hints of purple. Both of these polishes require a couple of coats to build an opaque colour, however as always with Models Own polishes they dry really quickly and have excellent staying power!
My favourite of the two is probably Pinky Brown, as I love the way it looks in the light (plus I'm a sucker for autumnal colours), however Aqua Violet is just as lovely and is unlike any polishes that I currently own.
I definitely recommend both of these shades, and am seriously considering purchasing the rest of this interesting collection!

hear my roar

Have to be quick today, because I'm going out to meet my friend and see Sherlock Holmes 2! I haven't seen the first one so it will be interesting to see if I understand what's going on.. but never mind, it's the socializing that I look forward to!
This is quite a casual outfit for me - I never tend to just go for jeans and a cardie but sometimes  needs must. Some may say this is a little bit of a leopard print overload but in my opinion there's no such thing - a leopard ring, top, scarf and belt has to be nothing other than the perfect balance ;) Bought this cardigan last year and really love it. I always forget that it's in there, behind all the clutter in my wardrobe, just waiting to come out and display it's undeniable charm and good looks! Plum and leopard print have to be one of my favourite combinations at the moment.
Hope you're all having a good week, and are looking forward to all the festivities this weekend will bring!

gypsy night

It feels like so long since I last posted that I'm surprised I even remember how to start! I'm so happy that it's the Christmas holidays now though, and although the next two weeks aren't exactly full of exciting plans due to the ton of revision I have to do, I can at least take comfort in the knowledge that I will have plenty of outfits to show you all! Not a lot has happened since I last posted, other than a little bit of unwelcome snow here in the South, and the announcement of my giveaway winner - Daisy from Simply Daisybelle. I had a good few entrants and thank you to you all, but Daisy is the lucky recipient of the ELF (and a few Models Own) products; I will be battling the Christmas post and trying to get them to her shortly! I feel as if she's a worthy winner, and you should all check out her fantastic blog ASAP.
Incorporated one of the few 'vintage' items that I own into my outfit today. I bought this last year and was happy to rediscover it whilst rifling through my drawers this morning! The skirt was really cheap from H&M, and is fast becoming a staple of mine. It goes with absolutely everything and I find myself going to put it on all the time these days - might need to get myself another black skirt so that I can have a little variation.
On my nails I have Topshop's Gypsy Night - one of my favourite nail varnishes at the moment. Although you can't really see it in the photos, it's glittery and looks very much like the galaxy nails trend without the faff. I may do a post solely based on my favourite glitter nail varnishes, as I have acquired a fair few over the past few months.
That's all for now; don't forget to check out my Bloglovin', Lookbook, Twitter etc!

models own, tried and tested

Silver Fox, Gold Rush and Magenta Pearl

As those of you who read this post will know, I went to the Clothes Show Live last week and bought myself some Models Own goodies with the incredible '3 polishes of your choice and 12 other random products for £10' deal they had going on exclusively for the show. As I mentioned in my post about the Clothes Show, I wasn't overly bothered about the extra things and really just wanted the nail polishes, however thought I would show you the extra bits and bobs anyway, and share my thoughts with you.
These are the first Models Own nail varnishes I've ever bought, and as Models Own are more famed for their nail products I was keen to test them out. I haven't tried Gold Rush yet (although it does look gorgeous and festive) however I did wear Magenta Pearl with Silver Fox over the top at the weekend (you can just catch a glimpse in this post) and absolutely love them both. The best thing about these in my opinion is the quick drying speed. Silver Fox is especially great because after two coats you have a solid, glittery nail with no gaps  - to be honest I don't think I needed to put a colour underneath! I will definitely be purchasing more Models Own polishes, and they have completely lived up to my high expectations.
Unfortunately the other products haven't impressed me quite so much. The Grow-Fast Mascara certainly makes my eyelashes look bigger, but it's quite clumpy so I have to use another mascara  or an eyelash separator afterwards to unclog my lashes. It's also quite liquidy, so when I take it off it smudges down my cheeks and makes such a mess! Despite all this, I have been using it regularly along with a few others, because I'm desperate for a new mascara and can't bring myself to buy another Volume Million Lashes because it's so pricey - if any of you know of any good but cheaper alternatives then please let me know in the comments!
I also tried the lipstick and quite like the formula however I'm not sure if the colour is for me. Mine is in Nude which I'm sure will come in handy, however I wouldn't necessarily go for this shade if I were to choose for myself. A lip gloss in Red Hot was also included - the colour and the gloss seem to have separated so only clear gloss comes out..strange. I also got the retractable lip brush which, unlike some of the other 'freebies', I actually really like! It's a really nifty design, and there's a little lid so that you don't get lip product all over the inside of your makeup bag - so handy.
The last of the extras that I've actually opened and tried is the Hi-Definer Pro Eyeliner. It seemed to sting a little on application which I'm not sure is due to my sensitive eyes and the fact that I'd just used makeup wipes on them before putting on the liner, or a common side effect of the product. The brush is really easy to use and I'm sure I would wear it more often if I wasn't completely smitten with my L'Oreal Paris gel eyeliner that I absolutely swear by! It would take a pretty incredible eyeliner to make my loyalties change!
So that's that, a little round up of some of the Models Own bits I tried and tested. I'll probably just stick to the nail products from now on (got my eye on the new Beetle Juice collection or some more glitter polishes), however I'm glad I've tried the other products; I'm sure I'll still use some of them as I hate to be wasteful! I'm yet to open the two eye shadows and the eye pencils as I don't tend to wear bright colours on my eyes, so may throw these in to my giveaway; it ends on Friday so make sure you spread the word and get your entries in, details here. Good luck!

something in the way she moves

Jacket - Levi/Shirt - Primark/Vest - H&M/High waisted leggings - Topshop/Belt - Topshop/Boots
- Topshop/Bracelet - Topshop/Ring - Dorothy Perkins

The post title is a line from the song 'Something' by the Beatles - one of my all time favourite bands and a song that I'm pretty much playing on repeat after seeing Paul McCartney play live at the O2 Arena on Monday evening. Stupidly nobody in my family thought to take a camera (oh so typical) so you will just have to imagine the utter amazingness that was Paul's performance. As if to top off the whole evening, the old classic music mogul that I am was ecstatic when Rolling Stone Ronnie Wood wandered on stage to accompany Paul for a few songs - words cannot describe!
I'm wearing my new Topshop 'leggings' that I know I am going to live in this winter. I know a lot of people can be funny about bloggers wearing leggings and not covering up their bum, but to be honest these are so thick and high quality that I would hardly consider them leggings - they're no thicker/thinner than the Leigh jeans that Topshop sell. I love how they're high waisted, and have been wearing them like I would a pair of American Apparel disco pants (want these so bad). Just for the record, bought this denim jacket while on holiday in Florida last year - I'm not usually one to splash out on brands such as Levi but with the exchange rate being so good at the time, it would have been rude not to have bought it ;)
Don't forget to enter my ELF giveaway - ends on the 15th December!

Clothes Show Live 2011

I had the pleasure of going to the Clothes Show Live in Birmingham today, and although I didn't have many photo opportunities (the clothes distracted me) I thought I would share with you a few that I did manage to take whilst waiting for my friend to get her makeup done by the Benefit makeup artists, subsequently making us (fashionably) late for the live catwalk! For those of you who haven't heard of/attended the Clothes Show, picture rows and rows of stalls selling clothing, makeup and accessories, a few hundred girls in heels hoping to be spotted by model scouts and the odd sales person telling you about their latest killer deal through a gramophone, and you pretty much have the event in a nutshell!
Unlike when I went to the Britain and Ireland's Next Top Model Live Tour last month with a press pass, I was there on a school trip so unfortunately was slightly limited by time, however enjoyed myself nonetheless. I didn't make many purchases as it is coming up to Christmas and I am yet to buy my family their presents (panic) however I couldn't resist the Models Own stand, where you could choose three products of your choice and then receive a mix of twelve other Models Own products for ten pounds. I chose three nail varnishes which I was so chuffed with, as usually three Models Own polishes would come to fifteen pounds - the extra things were just a bit of a bonus; I may do a little review post soon to show you properly. Also on offer were bags full of Rimmel or Barry M products for ten pounds, Illamasqua products for a fiver, and all sorts of other tantalizing deals  - it took a lot of control for me to not get sucked in! I got a few other goodie bags and freebies (can't resist a freebie) but nothing to write home about, and have definitely decided that if I get the chance to go again next year I will save up and make sure I have plenty of money to spend so that I can make the most of the endless shopping opportunities available!
The live catwalk was amazing, and we got the chance to see Britain and Ireland's Next Top Model winner Jade tearing it up again (saw her previously at the BINTM Live tour which I posted about on my previous blog), BB from TV show Dirty Sexy Things and Kirk from TOWIE to name drop a few! Hosted by George Lamb and stylist Grace Woodward, the show was a combination of stunning models and supremely talented (and supremely good looking) dancers, all rolled into one big spray tanned eight pack extremely enjoyable performance, and for me this was the highlight of the day.
If any of you get the opportunity to go the Clothes Show next year I would definitely recommend it, just make sure you take plenty of cash so you can take advantage of the deals! A quick thank you to all of you who have followed Fashion Junkie, and don't forget to enter my giveaway where you can win £35 worth of amazingness from ELF; details on how to enter are here.
